Howdy!
Well, our time at the Astros Fanfest is over, and Sketkar and I had a great time. Other than the fact the Cougars went 1-2 at the College Classic, which was running also at the same time. Dennis from Starstruck is on his way back to Dallas. We had a great time meeting him and altogether we produced our first joint podcast. Look for it on both of our feeds over the next couple of days.
On Saturday, the three of us attending a seminar on the Astros, paneled by Owner Drayton McLane, Manager Phil Garner, General Manager Tim Purpura, and the event was hosted by Milo Hamilton. As fans, we enjoyed the banter done by panel. I really think this is a great reflection of the class of our organization. Another occurring theme of the discussion was the importance of character. I can’t deny in Astros’ History that we have not had our fair share of bad apples. However, we always seem to have class guys you want to root for to win.
We also had the chance to meet Adam Everett who is popular with both Starstruck and AstroCast. We took advantage of having our picture taken with him. We also took our time to visit a lot of the booths and looked at collectibles.
On Sunday, Dennis completed in a contest to sing the Nation Anthem. He didn’t win, but AstroCast gives him full credit for trying. If it were me, I’m sure all the glass windows at Minute Maid Park would have cracked. We had the pleasure meeting Astros Broadcasters Brett Dolan and Dave Raymond.
I was thrilled that we also met Alyson Footer who writes on Astros.com. I always enjoyed reading her work, and Astros.com have helped this podcast on many occasions. Y’all can’t understand having so much up date information has helped us.
I have to say on our way out. Sketkar got a thrill as we came across Milo Hamilton, who was gracious enough to let me take a photo of him with Sketkar.
One last note…… We are going to post our joint podcast in the next couple of days and have some audio clips from the Astros Fanfest for you.
Peace
