There was a really bad odor coming from Minute Maid Park earlier this week. I think Uncle Drayton will need to check the “pumpkins” in the train’s cargo hold. I know something really bad smelled from the park, and I seriously doubt it was the “pumpkins.”
This is no way to get around it, the team just stank earlier this week. Every aspect of the game was awful with the exception of starting pitching. However, I do want to make a note, don’t despair! The last time the Astros got swept in an opening season series we went to the World Series.
I tried reading John Lopez’s column in the Houston Chronicle this morning, and typically when I tried to read John Lopez; I rarely finish. I think the man has already given up on the team after three games. Astros Fans don’t be this cynical. (The Author of this Post strongly believes that is Lopez’s middle name!)
I have to say this about the Pirates, I think they do have a good young team, and keyword being young. Historically, young teams come out of the gate hot, but fade quickly for they lack the experience to survive a 162 game schedule. I know some of you are thinking, “Lambo, this is the Pirates.” Well, to you, I will remind you that this is basically the same team that swept the Cardinals late in the season last year. Oh yeah, you remember the Cardinals, the team that went on to win the World Series.
I do believe there is a lot of parity in the National League Central. I think with the Cardinals, Reds, Brewers, Pirates and our Astros beating on each other over the season, I wouldn’t be surprised if it only takes 85-90 games for a winner to emerge.
Well, starting tonight, we are going up against our NL Central Rival, the Cardinals whom got spanked themselves as they limp in with a 0-3 record as well. Well, I guess someone has to finally win! Might as well be our Astros…..Hey wait a minute… Wandy is pitching…. nope make that tomorrow night.
