Hello all,
Second half of the 2009 baseball season is here. Starting today your astros will play the LA Dodgers in LA. In the first half of the season the Astros didn’t look good or bad, maybe a little bad. But as we all know they are a second half season team or have been of late. Unlike past seasons, the second half of the season doesn’t look too pleasing.
Here is something interesting, in the first half of the season the Astros played 13 series against teams above the 0.500 mark and 13 series against teams that were below the 0.500 mark. Well, the astros finished the first half of the season with a 0.500 record, interesting. The second have of the season, the Astros have to play 17 series against teams above 0.500 and only 8 series against teams below the 0.500 mark. If the first half is any indication, this isn’t going to be a very fun second half. Then again, I’d like to be wrong and the Astros go on another run.
The next few series will tell, they play the Dodgers, Cardinals, Mets, Cubs. Here’s to winning a few of these series. All of these teams have 0.500 records.
We’ll also have to wait and see where they are at the end of July. The second half trading frenzy is at the end of the month. Will the Astros look to the immediate future or start rebuilding for the long-term?
I’m out…
