SKetkar here.  We at Astrocast will be going on a short haitus.  Think of it as end of the season with no lame repeats.  We’ll back with fresh new episodes after May 10th.  You maybe ask “why SKetkar”, “why are you leaving us”, well truth be told, I’m getting married in about a month, and as you can imagine, things are getting very busy at the SKetkar household.  So my co-host Lambo graciously agreed that we go on haitus until after the wedding.  So there you have it.

Oh, we do have one show in the tank that I’ll post.  Sorry if it sounds dated but it’s a good one.

I just wanted to take a moment and inform you that AstroCast has a presence in Second Life. What is Second Life? I’m glad you asked!

Second Life is a virtual world that you can create an avatar and interact with people. Our network of podcasts, Farpoint Media is co-sponsoring a region within this world. We have opened the AstroCast Podcast Pub in this same region, where you can hear our podcast, as well as other sports podcasts. You can also hear music feeds while drinking a St. Arnold’s Brew!

Also, while you are on these grounds in Second Life, you can hear the live feeds of great FPM shows like Wingin It 3D, Slice of Sci Fi, and the Babylon Podcast. You can also hear them in our pub as well. In the Farpoint Media Castle, there is information of all the our network’s podcasts.

Also, this region has another sponsor called Third Life Books. This is the brain child of New York Times Bestseller Author, Michael A. Stackpole. If you like to read, or desire to be a writer yourself- this is a place to go! He has set up a system were you can read books in Second Life, and interact with himself and other authors. Third Life Books also sponsors a writer’s group.

Over time, this region will be having interesting events as authors reading their works, and fairs.

If you do visit us in Second Life, and you happen to find a Canadian by the name of Jeremy, please, inform him that baseball is a superior sport compared to hockey.

We apologize that Show 30 part 1 was processed incorrectly and only the first seven minutes were available for download.  The problem has been fixed and the web stream is playing the entire episode.  For the potcatchers out there, the only way to get the full episode is to manually delete the short episode and download the full episode.

We been getting a lot of voice message, emails and comments regarding the lack of show(s).   Our current server (libsyn) and tracking system (yahoo) situation has gotten frustrating (it ate our last show, and it was a really good show) and we’re in the process of moving to a much better server and tracking system (podango).  So, we appreciate all the interest and please bare with us as we try to get everything working properly again.

If you didn’t already know, we’ll be recording show 25 live at the Flying Saucer this Sunday, August 12th.  This is our third live show recording and our second at the Flying Saucer.  Our last live show at the Saucer (Show 16) is by far our most popular show, so we are excited to do another live recording.

After spending some time working this, I finally decided to release the new look for Astrocast. It’s based on a 4 column wordpress theme called theNYKer or something like that. Of course I HAD to modify the crap out of it. Its been tested on all browsers and looks best on Firefox. IE7 doesn’t support all the fancy layering and opacity, makes it look clunky. There are a couple of things I still want to finish but it’s a working theme, so I thought – what the hell. Lets give it a try.

Some new things,

On the left column, you have access to our email address and voice mail number as well as recent post/comments.

Right below the header you’ll see scrollers that show Baseball related new from ESPN and Astros related new from Astros.com.

What else… ?? I think that’s it for now.

We are pleased to announce that our next show, show 16 will be recorded live at The Flying Saucer Draught Emporium. We will be upstairs in the “Pub of Love”. We’ll plan on recording a regular show and have a question/answer/discussion session with any listeners, Astros fans that can make it. We’ll also present the interview will did with Red-Nation’s (Cincinnati) Red Hot Mama. The recording will start at 2PM and will last about 1 hr, maybe a bit longer, it depends on how much listener participation we get.

First of all, let me apologize to those who did comment on the site during the end of last season. We had technical and timing issues during the season that “hopefully” been resolved for the upcoming season. We had made some changes to the site that I hope will be obvious as time progresses.

Also, Sketkar has joined the team at AstroCast. He will post Astro related comments on this blog as well as I. Please, feel free to make comments to our blog posts.

Also, he will join me in the podcast once we get those up and running. The plan currently is….. Time permitting…… We hope to post a podcast each Monday/Tuesday covering the events of the previous week.
